The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office said that Decody Darnell Herring, 32, has been charged with the murder of Devon Deshon Kennedy, according to AL.com.

Kennedy was reported missing from Pensacola, Florida, on Nov. 14, 2015, and his body was found a day later inside a car in Lillian, Alabama, AL.com reported.

Kennedy was 22 years old when he was found dead, The Associated Press reported.

At the time, investigators had multiple suspects but there was not enough evidence for an arrest, according to the AP.

“Eventually, all of our investigative leads were exhausted,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement obtained by the AP. “The case remained open but became cold.”

The sheriff’s office received new information on Friday that led to Herring’s arrest but did not share what that new information was, according to the AP. The sheriff’s office also thanked law enforcement officials in Florida but did not elaborate on their role.

Herring’s bond was set at $150,000 according to WKRG.

Herring has been in prison in Florida for the last seven years for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to the news outlet.
